Paula opened our meeting with some rotary history. In 1986-87 the club raised $3k through an auction, started morning club and raised over $70k for the YMCA. April Birthdays were celebrated with songs. Paula updated us on the rotary club vision retreat and announced she was elected to be the Strategic Plan "Nag".
Eric Charpentier is recruiting High School student applications until April 30th for RYLA. Our club has a budget for 2 students this year.
The Rotary 5580 District Conference is held on April 11-13 in Fargo. Here's the link for more info. Brainerd noon club members attending may submit their registration fee for reimbursement to Heather Kelm.
Aaron Antony announced the next ditch cleanup will be April 30th with a 5:00pm start. Food and drinks will follow the event. An online sign up on ClubRunner was sent by an email or use this link.
Kevin Thesing reminded us to check out tickets for this years Reverse Raffle. It will take place on May 16th with a goal to sell 300 tickets. Today 52 tickets were checked out. Please pick them up from Allie.
Speaker: Karissa Haugen & Tim Johnson - New head coaches for BHS girl’s & Boy’s golf. Tim is from SE MN and moved to Brainerd in 2006. He started as a golf coach working at Craguns. Karissa, from Pelican Rapids, has been golfing since she was 2 years old. She moved to this area in 2016 and works as a realtor by day. The girls team has 23 girls in JV and Varsity. They are typically in 2 or 3 spot but shooting for #1.
Tim, explained they are trying to get the teams to support each other. For example the boys and girls teams now weight lift together. Tim's team includes 43 boys including 16 seniors. The boys are working hard on their short game and hoping to go to state.
Both coaches are excited about our great weather to get out early.
