Rotary Announcements
Adam Rees: We will be going forward with a pilot of the Four-Way Test essay contest. Kevin Thesing, Annmarie Lacher, and Adam Rees will be reviewing the essay submissions. If you would like to participate in reviewing the essays, please see Adam.

Future Meetings

Change of Gavel will be held on June 17, 2025, at Cragun's. We will not have a noon meeting that day.
Sergeant at Arms
Ed Menk fined everyone that has put up Christmas decorations already...it's really too soon. He also fined all our unsuccessful hunters and those of us that have cleaned up all their leaves.

Darrel Olson, City of Baxter
Mayor Olson was recently elected to his sixth term as Baxter mayor. He gave us a brief history of Baxter. Both Brainerd and Baxter built up around the Northern Pacific Railroad. Brainerd had the NP Center, where boxcars were built and the NP had their headquarters. A railroad tie plant was built in Baxter.
Now, Baxter serves as the gateway to Vacationland. Baxter has a little over 9,000 residents. That number easily doubles during the summer months. Baxter has worked diligently to improve the roads for both residents and individuals that are just passing through.
Baxter is only 45% developed at this time. Mayor Olson spoke about the residential and commercial development in Baxter. He also answered several questions about what's happening in Baxter.
