Accomplishments of the Brainerd Rotary Club

The Brainerd Rotary Club has been named District 5580 "Best Club in the District" four times.

During 2001/2002 the Brainerd Rotary Club received the District 5580 "George Love - Best Bulletin Award", the PDG Stan Sahlstrom Community Service Award and honorable mention for Best Club in the District.   The club also exceeded worldwide Global Quest Award membership goals and exceeded the Rotary International President's goal for giving to the RI Foundation.

As of April, 2002, 116 members have become Paul Harris Fellows, 27 active members are Paul Harris Sustainers, 31 are multiple Paul Harris Fellows and 21 members are Paul Harris Benefactors.  

In 2001 the Rotary Foundation conferred the citation for Meritorious Service upon Hanspeter Borgwarth, a member of our club.

Received the Tom O'Brien Attendance Award in 1999 and 2000 and Community Service Award for District 5580 in 1999.

Received the Inner Club Service Award for District 5580 in 1998

Co-hosted the 1996 District 5580 Assembly and Conference.

Established a Peer Mediation in the local school system in 1998.

In 1999 working on a Parent-Peer Drug Awareness program in cooperation with the school system and law enforcement officials.

Co-sponsoring with the Brainerd Daily Dispatch a Hall of Fame for graduates of the school system who have distinguished themselves in the field of business and fine arts.

Created a College Student of the Month program to increase awareness of Club, College and individual student activities in 1999.

Developing and sponsoring a community based Rotaract Club with two Brainerd Club members as advisors in 1999.

Encouraged the formation of the new Aitkin Lakes Rotary Club chartered in 1996.

Achieved the Presidential Citation Award 1993 - 1998.

In 1998 a Rotarian from our club was Team Leader for a Group Study Exchange Group in Hong Kong.

Hosted GSE Teams from France in 1995, Turkey in 1996, Argentina in 1997 and Brazil in 1999.

Completed a financial commitment of $7,000 towards the restoration of the historical Beaulieu House at Crow Wing state Park which when completed will be an educational center about our area's heritage.

For many years, through the generosity of the Ruttger Family, hosted District 5580's Incoming Youth Exchange Students in September. This provides a wonderful opportunity for students and Rotarian families to become acquainted and spend an enjoyable weekend in the Brainerd Lakes Area.

Produced a Club Photo Director of Members in 1996, 2002 and 2005.
