Duluth Lake Superior Dragon Boat Races
August 25, 2007

On Friday, August 25th 37 paddlers along with their families drove up to Superior Wisconsin to compete in the 2007 Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival.  Being short of paddlers, we recruited paddlers while in Superior.  After an hour of instruction, we were ready to compete with John Luce and Paula Persons as our drummers on the two boats.  One boat came in 68th and the other 78th with times of 2:32.27 and 2:34.05.  Friday night we enjoyed visiting around campfire, looking at the Duluth city lights, listing to music from the festival, and trying the various festival foods while listening to the lapping waters of Lake Superior which were all of five feet away.  Everyone had a great time and  we raised  money for breast cancer research.
